Why Share Free Crochet Patterns
I have been creating cute little outfits for small dolls for around ten years.
There are so many wonderful crochet artists listing free crochet patterns that I thought I would some of the crochet thread patterns I wrote years ago. These were written at a time when crochet doll patterns for small dolls were extremely rare. I started out making these items for miniature polymer sculpt dolls. I will list some for dolls as small as 1.5 inches up to around 8 inches. I have only done a few for the larger reborn dolls and 14 inch Lots to Love dolls. Berenguer Dress for 5" Doll
Size #10 Cotton Crochet thread in 3 colors.
Size #6 U.S. Steel hook
Abbrev: ch=chain, single crochet =sc,
double crochet = dc,
hdc = half double crochet, st=stitch,
Chain 18
Row 1: Sc across (17 sc) Ch1.
Row 2: 2 sc in every stitch. Ch1.
Row 3: Sc across (34 sc) ch1.
Row 4: Sc in next 6 sc, dc in next 5 sc, sc in next 12 sc, dc in next 5 sc, sc in next 6 sc.
Ch2.
Row 5: (Sleeve Row) Hdc in next 6 sts, ch3, skip 5 sts, hdc in next 12 sts, ch 3, skip 5 sts, hdc in next 6 sts. Chain 2.
Row 6: 2 hdc in every stitch across.
Waistband: Ch 4, *skip 1 st, dc in next st, ch 1. Repeat to last stitch. Dc. Turn.
Skirt: Chain 3, *(2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in ch1 space. Repeat from * to last stitch. Dc in last stitch.
Repeat last row, until desired length.
Scallop (ch3, skip 1, slp st in next st) edge to finish. Sc evenly up back, to 3rd row of bodice. Slp st in end of 3rd row, Chain 4 (this will be the button hole.) Sc in first row of bodice. (Before fastening off make sure the button you plan to use fits well in the buttonhole just made. Fasten off.
Weave in ends. Sew button on opposite side from button hole.
Options: Adorn with tiny rosettes. One, two or three different color thread can be used.

I know what you mean about the eyes. I'm soon to be 53 and I have to use bright light. It definitely helps. For now, I usually try to work in the sunlight whenever possible. Thanks so much for your compliment!

The outfits are wonderful. In my younger, better eyes days I crocheted dresses for the tiny little dolls used for baby showers. I'd put a pin in the back to make it a lapel pin. Your dresses are much cuter. Congratulations.
